About Shweta Nagpal

Two disciplines that rarely sit together: the engineering rigour of mission-critical systems and the policy literacy of public governance.

Shweta Nagpal is an Assistant Engineer (Computer System) with the Bhakra Beas Management Board, under the Ministry of Power, where she is responsible for the software and data infrastructure behind some of the country's most critical water and power assets. She was designated by the Chairman, BBMB as Nodal Officer for AI Governance, leading the organisation's alignment with the IndiaAI Mission and the MeitY AI Governance Guidelines.

Across nearly a decade in government and public-sector undertakings, her work has run from the technical to the strategic: building secure enterprise platforms, modernising procurement through national portals, and translating policy into practice that holds up to audit and scrutiny. Earlier roles at PSTCL and on the TCS-Punjab Government DigiGov programme established her grounding in large-scale e-governance and the realities of digitising the state.

She holds an M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and approaches every system the same way, as something the public ultimately depends on.
